Convert AVIF images to GIF format entirely in your browser. GIF is a widely supported legacy format, though it is limited to 256 colours — use this converter when compatibility with older tools or platforms is required. All processing is local; no files are uploaded.

Supports .avif files — GIF output is static (single frame)
.avif images.GIF (Graphics Interchange Format) is one of the oldest image formats still in widespread use. Its main limitations are a palette of only 256 colours and no support for partial transparency (only binary on/off). This makes it unsuitable for photographic content.
When to use GIF:
For photos or images with gradients, use PNG or WebP instead.
Why is my GIF larger than the original AVIF?
AVIF uses very advanced compression that far outperforms GIF. A GIF will almost always be larger because it can only use 256 colours and a simpler compression algorithm.
Will colours look different in the GIF?
Possibly. Images with more than 256 unique colours will have colour banding in the output. Photos and gradients are particularly affected.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Conversion is done entirely in your browser. Your files are never sent to any server.
