How to Print Double-Sided Flashcards
- Add your terms and definitions above, choose a card size, and click Download PDF. The PDF contains terms on the odd sides and corresponding definitions on the even sides.
- Load Avery printable card stock into your printer. Make sure it's loaded in the correct orientation — check the Avery template guide for your specific product number.
- Open the PDF and print using your printer's double-sided (duplex) print feature. Select “Flip on long edge”.
- If your printer does not support duplex, print all the odd pages, reload paper, and print even sides.
- After printing, cut along the card guides or simply separate the perforated sheets if using Avery perforated stock.
Tip: Do a test run on plain paper first to confirm alignment before printing on card stock.

Study Tips: Getting the Most from Flashcards
Active recall beats re-reading
The most powerful thing about flashcards is that they force you to retrieve the answer before flipping. Resist the urge to flip before you've genuinely tried to recall the term or definition.
Spaced repetition
Review cards more frequently at first, then spread out the intervals as you learn them. Cards you miss should be practiced again sooner than cards you got right.
Sort as you study
Divide cards into three piles: “know it,” “almost,” and “missed.” Spend most of your time on the “almost” and “missed” piles.
Both directions matter
Practice recognizing the definition when you see the term, and recalling the term when you see the definition. Double-sided cards make both directions equally easy.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many cards can I add?
There is no hard limit. However, keep in mind that very long definitions may be truncated on smaller card sizes (especially 2×3.5”). Use the Index Card or Postcard sizes for longer content.
Will my cards save if I close the browser?
No — the cards only exist in your current browser session. Download your PDF before closing or refreshing the page.
Which card size should I choose?
For short vocabulary terms with brief definitions, the 2×3.5” business card format is convenient and economical. For full sentences or longer definitions, use the 3×5” or 4×6” sizes. For classroom display cards, the 4×6” postcard format is ideal.
Do I need special Avery paper?
For perforated tear-apart cards, yes — use the matching Avery stock. However, the PDF can also be printed on regular cardstock and cut with scissors or a paper trimmer.
Can I use this for languages other than English?
Yes. Enter terms in any language using standard keyboard input. The PDF uses a standard font so most Latin-script languages (Spanish, French, German, etc.) will display correctly.
