Semester Grade Tracker
Add your courses and record grades as the semester goes on. The tracker shows your running average for each class and estimates your semester GPA based on credit hours. When you know where you stand, use the final grade calculator to see exactly what score you need on upcoming finals, or check the weighted grade calculator if your courses use category-based grading (homework, quizzes, tests).

How to Use the Grade Tracker
- Click Add Course and enter the course name and credit hours.
- Inside each course card, click Add Grade to log an assignment, quiz, or exam. Enter the points you earned and the total points possible.
- The tracker updates your running average and letter grade for that course automatically.
- If you enter credit hours for all courses, the tool estimates your semester GPA using either a standard or plus/minus scale.
- Use the final grade calculator to see what score you need on each final exam to hit your target grade.
Understanding GPA Calculations
GPA is calculated by multiplying each course's grade points by its credit hours, summing the results, and dividing by total credit hours. For example, an A (4.0) in a 3-credit course contributes 12.0 quality points; a B+ (3.3) in a 4-credit course contributes 13.2 quality points.
| Letter | % Range | Plus/Minus GPA | Standard GPA |
|---|---|---|---|
| A+ | 97–100 | 4.0 | 4.0 |
| A | 93–96 | 4.0 | 4.0 |
| A− | 90–92 | 3.7 | 4.0 |
| B+ | 87–89 | 3.3 | 3.0 |
| B | 83–86 | 3.0 | 3.0 |
| B− | 80–82 | 2.7 | 3.0 |
| C+ | 77–79 | 2.3 | 2.0 |
| C | 73–76 | 2.0 | 2.0 |
| C− | 70–72 | 1.7 | 2.0 |
| D | 60–69 | 1.0 | 1.0 |
| F | 0–59 | 0.0 | 0.0 |
Note: Grade scales vary by institution. Some schools do not award plus/minus grades or use different percentage cutoffs. Check your school's grading policy for exact thresholds.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this track my cumulative GPA?
This tool tracks grades within a single semester. For cumulative GPA, you would need to include prior semester credits and quality points. The GPA calculator handles cumulative calculations across multiple semesters.
Why does my GPA not show up?
The GPA estimate only appears when you have entered credit hours for at least one course and have at least one recorded grade in that course. If credit hours are left at 0 or blank, the tool cannot weight the grades correctly.
Can I enter percentage grades instead of points?
Yes. Enter the grade as a percentage and set the total to 100. For example, an 87% test score would be entered as 87 earned out of 100 total.
Is my data saved between visits?
No. The tracker runs entirely in your browser and resets when you close or refresh the page. For a persistent grade log, use a spreadsheet app like Google Sheets alongside this tool for quick running-average checks.
What if my course uses weighted categories?
If your professor weights homework, quizzes, and exams differently (e.g., exams count 50%), use the weighted grade calculator to find your true course average, then enter that result here as a single grade entry.
