About This Tool
The PNG Resizer uses the browser's native Canvas API to draw your image at the new dimensions. The Smooth mode applies bilinear interpolation for the best photographic quality. The Pixelated mode preserves hard edges — ideal for pixel art, icons, and screenshots.
Transparency is fully preserved when you resize PNGs with alpha channels. The output file is saved as a lossless PNG with no quality loss from compression artifacts.
If you need to convert a PNG to another format, see the PNG to JPG converter or PNG to WebP converter. To reduce PNG file size without resizing, try the image compressor.
Tips
- Lock aspect ratio — enter either width or height and the other dimension updates automatically to prevent distortion.
- Common web sizes — 1200×630 for Facebook OG images, 1080×1080 for Instagram, 1280×720 for YouTube thumbnails.
- Percentage scaling — 50% gives you a half-size image at exactly half the width and height; 200% doubles the dimensions.
- Very large outputs — sizes above 4000×4000 may be slow depending on your device's memory. For very large batch jobs a desktop tool like GIMP or Photoshop is recommended.
